This happened awhile ago and ripped up my serpentine belt and tension pulley, both of which I have replaced but I'm afraid to drive it because I don't want this to happen again and its still not turning. I know that if I keep driving it the friction will destroy it again, until I fix it.

The compressor assemble locked up due to a leak in the system and the lost of oil from the compressor.

If you decide to fix it, you will need to find the leak and I recommend that a professional repair shop do this for you.

You will need to replace the compressor, accumulator, expansion tube, repair any and all leaks, flush out the complete a/c system and evacuate and recharge adding freon and oil.

The first answer is correct. If you want to drive it without fixing it disconnect the power from the AC compressor. It will be the only wire going to the compressor. If it ran low on freon or 134 it should not have engaged the compressor clutch
