I've always wondered about that, because especially in the Consumer Electronics > Music & Music Players section where I hang out, there's a ton of people asking how to get music without paying for it. And there's always people telling how to do it. Can those people get in trouble for that?

Thanks =P

Or what about those people that say, I've downloaded 200 songs and 50 movies and blahblahblah - can THEY get in trouble?

Anyone can say anything on here, whether it's true or not. So, pertaining about someone getting in trouble for saying they have downloaded without paying, chances are they will not get in trouble. But, if someone is telling someone else how to do something illegal, they should be reported, and, if it is a valid case, their response or question will be removed.

Yes. The U.S. Copyright Code has provisions dealing specifically with what it calls "contributory infringement."

Contributory infringement, requires (1) knowledge of the infringing activity and (2) a material contribution -- actual assistance or inducement -- to the alleged piracy.

No
If I tell you how to make drugs, or tell you how to make a bomb so to say. I my be investigated but can not be found at fault for your actions. You chose to do what you want to do I just showed you the way.
Another way to look at it is if I told you to jump off a bridge and you did it, it not my fault unless I pushed you off.

Technically, I suppose they could. Realistically, no. There are too many to track down.

If the people who have their music up makes it so easy they should expect that's going to happen.
