It depends upon how the parents educate the children. You can use this as a manner to teach the kids that everyone makes mistakes from time to time. You admit your mistakes and try not to do them again. Even if your life isn't on the perfect path, you can straighten things up like Obama did, and obtain whatever goals you set for yourself with hardwork, education, etc. Explain to the kids that Obama would not have made it this far if he continued to use drugs.

I think that it is a much better example for kids for our leaders to be honest. When I was younger I was moved most by the speakers at anti drug presentations who had experienced the pain caused by drug addiction or alcoholism and found a way to recover. Honesty is much better than the tack used by our current President, who rather than outright lying and denying his former use, is evasive and says he doesn't want to set a bad example. Most kids can see right through that kind of hypocrisy.

No, they will do drugs because we don't have the guts to wage a real war on drugs. And by the way. To all you silly bastards. BILL CLINTON HAS BEEN OUT OF OFFICE FOR 7, count 'em, 7 freaking years! Find someone else to blame everything on. Good lord what a bunch of freaking idiots!

I think it is foolish to think that is the case. I would have to hope that a parent would be involved enough in their child's lives to help them distinguish the difference between what is right and what is wrong.
And quite frankly I think more young children would think it is okay to imitate popular celebrities, than any sort of political leader.
I think the more pertinent question if you ask me is how does the actions/behaviors of the Lindsey Lohan's and the Brittany Spears of the world affect our children and their decision making.
Once again I would hope not much, as I would hope that even though their fame lends them to be very "powerful" in our children's eyes, that as parents, we would at least open the lines of communication, and try to instill as best as we can, the morals and values in our children that WE deem as good and just.

Did our kids drink more because GW Bush was an alcoholic? Did they do drugs because it came out that he almost certainly did cocaine?
