Apparently the actress didn't act properly or made a mistake, so the director went straight to her and slapped her. He claims there was nothing wrong about his actions - he says just like we slap our kids or youngsters if they make a mistake, she also deserved a tight slap for her mistake.

No legal action was taken against him - was this correct of him to do that?

ask the actress to claim for the director's assets if he justifies his action as a father's reaction for a mistake done by child.

No, he shouldn't even rebuke & insult loudly in public. None is his slave but it is seen in Bollywood that at the time of shootings at hill stations near Mumbai, the directors got the actress stripped of all clothes to be changed by male helpers on the sets to save time.

Wardrobe malfunctions, eve reasing & so many indecent reamrks are common things during rehearsals in indoor shootings in Indian studios. Frequent rapes too are happening. Recently, a monor cine actress Hema of 17 for regional language(Marathi) films was repeatedly raped. None is spared in this field, according to Shakti kapoor, a filmstar of Bollywood, India who even took the names of the male members who had sex with female filmstars Rani Mukherjee & Preeti Zinta before their debut in Hindi films.

Legally, there is no regulatory authority to prevent all such horrible things at least in India.

If the actress does not have the strength of character to report the incident for fear that it might affect her career badly, i 'd say she deserved what she got.
If one will do anything for money they are a prostitute, just that their price is much higher than regular ones!

no it was certainly not correct as he is violating her human rights. It is a free country but his freedom ends where her cheek begins, if he was so upset about her acting he should have fired her rather than assault her.His behaviour was extremely childish, immature and volatile. If someone was to slap him he would most certainly feel offended and it is also the actresses fault she did not retaliate at once.Self dignity should always come before anything else even career, it would be better to leave the film than work for such a provocative director who manhandles and mistreats when angry.Today he slapped in anger what will he do tomorrow? These people should be taught a lesson as if he doesn't have the basic upbringing and respect for a woman it shows what kind of a downtrodden immoral person he must be and such people do not deserve a place in society

That is wrong. This is just not right.
The director deserves punishment for that.

If it were Jennifer Lopez or Angelina Jolie, I think it would be okay. Otherwise, I think it's a bad idea.

But maybe it was in her contract!

Happy New Year!

No

The director might have lost his temper out of many takes,
I am dam sure he will never dare even to rase his voice or slap if the youngester was the daughter of Rajani/kamal of super heroine Sredevi/Hema.
