Denvers suburbs are very nice and full of growth and good schools. They are a little more then average as far as home prices but its worth having the Rocky Mountains outside your window.

check out the suburb of Hendersonville, TN, about 20 miles north of Nashville. Like some of the other places written about, it has affordable housing, great schools, warm people, and a growing economy- lots of new shops and restaurants going in right now. It's located on the shore of Old Hickory Lake. There is a hospital, but you're also close to the world class ones in Nashville as well as all the other amenities the the city offers- museums, symphony, ballet, off-Broadway theater, a huge lake, historic places galore, great parks and hiking trails, etc. We moved here 6 1/2 years ago from Las Vegas and just love it!

Fountain Hills, Arizona. It borders Scottsdale on the east. I just saw your previous ? about Phoenix or Orlando. I prefer Phoenix myself. Fountain Hills is a pretty small suburb that borders Scottsdale on the eastside. It has a lot of nice houses, it's clean and safe, scenic, and has the world's highest fountain.

I think there is some article concerning this (your local libbrary can find out). I know that East Amherst is rated as one of the bests suburbs in america to have a family in. Number one school district in the area (Western News York, Buffalo area), number one in safety in the country, has a ton of parks, libraries and public pools. I live there- a 1960 2000 sq-foot house with 4 beds, 21/2 baths, family room, 2-car attached garage cost $138,000 4 years ago. Taxes for the house are 3,800. My street ends in at park with a brand new playground, two tennis courts, two basketball courts, soccer field and two baseball fields. The other end of my street is a cul-de-sac. There is a library half a mile away as well as a town sponsered "water-park" pool for the kids (next to the library). Grocery store, mall, and expanding hospital are two minutes away. I truly never have to travel more than five miles for anything. And my neighborhood is very quiet and full of families and kids. Thw town has a tons of really cheap childrens programs also. I love it.

I would pick Minneapolis. It is very family friendly and has nice safe suburbs and a great quality of life.

There are some great suburbs in the Atlanta area. The suburbs in LA are beautiful but too expensive. I don't think NYC has any great suburbs for families but Connecticut would be a great place (Stamford, Fairfield, etc.). I think the Portland (Oregon) area would be a great place to grow a family, too. Grand Rapids, Michigan is a great city that is growing, too.
