Today I answered a simple problem of trigonometry and was the first to solve it. But someone had just posted the question only as an answer before me and edited it with the answer after seeing my answer. Now it appears that he was the first to solve. What should be done to discourage such an unethical practice?

A simple change would be to have your answer be jumped to the bottom of the then current list when you make any edit.

Yes I saw your question. But before I had a chance to answer it had been resolved, which I thought strange.I think at this point the best recourse is to report the matter to the Y/A Board. If they don't provide a satisfactory solution to this and similar practices in the future,I will figure alternatives.Yours in total agreement larry m

doesn't seem like there is much to be done about that except taking away the edit function. i suppose you can always report the person ??

It depends on if you see spreading information as a competition or as cooperation. Sure its a little annoying but its not that big a deal and I think that people should be able to edit their answers. You know you got the answer right and nobody can steal that from you unless you let them and give in to resentment.
