I like his beliefs on minimal government and federalism. Return to states' rights in the judicial system. Let local and state governments run schools, so they can respond to the needs of students better. Being a small business owner, I like the view of simplifying tax law. It currently benefits large corporations and hinders small business.

I like Fred. Does he always live up to those standards, probably not, but he matches my views better than most.

The problem is he is a hands off, states’ rights guy, and most people despite what they say want to hear "What I'm going to do for you...." when in reality the answer should be "here is how I'm going to keep the Federal government out of your life, unless necessary."

So I'm going to say it. Finally, Go Fred. After careful thought, and consideration of other people, he matches my views most of the time, not always, but yeah, I would vote for him over other candidates from either side.

Glad he's gone.

His campaign was a sham; and, I've had enough of actors in the Oval Office. I remember Reagan [mumble. mumble. mumble].

I think he's a terrible candidate for President, but is in essence a good man. The bottom line? Anyone Fred's age better seem a whole lot more active and healthy if they hope to get elected. He looks like death when he's standing next to the other candidates, especially McCain, who is also up there in age but shows vigor and some get-up-and-go. There's also a perception out there in the general public that Fred is too lazy, too pedantic, and too plodding to be a serious Presidential candidate. The Republicans had great hopes in the beginning for this guy, but it ended up being too little too late for Thompson and that is no one's fault but his own.

I think he is one of the few candidates that is a consistant conservative on the issues. I also think he would make a good President.

Mr. Thompson is a good candidate. He has many good views of America and many good plans for America.

I just do not agree with him on a few issues. I could not believe that he said that he had no interest in the run for president. I wanted to support him in the beginning but now I am 100% Mike Huckabee!!!

Speaking as person who had him as a Senator, I cannot remember him doing anything while in office. He seemed to take no initiative and just follow the Republican lead. He was seen as lazy for not even showing up a lot.

I don't like him because I think we need someone who can lead with more conviction and initiative. He seems more of a follower than a leader.

But maybe that's justmy experience.

Best choice we have, hands down.

He seems to be the one who wants it the least. I suppose that could be considered a plus.
