My friend just received "the papers".It took 2 weeks from the date filed although I dont believe that is a standard. It probably depends on how many cases are being filed.

If he knows they are coming and it is amicable, if you haven't sent them, he can go to the court with you and to the sheriff's dept to be served in person. We went and I filed with the clerks office, we walked to the sheriff,s office and they served him on the spot, then I walked the papers back to the clerk's office and got my court date for the divorce immediately.

Upon the Judge pronounced the divorce, it would take 3 months for the decree to be absolute. U may then be served with such decree after the said 3 months lapsed.
That's the case in Malaysia..The law may differ on different countries as to the period for the decree to be absolute

In most jurisdictions, after the Complaint for divorce is filed with the Court, a summons issues and the papers are served by the sheriff's office. Depending on whether or not your spouse is in hiding, or readily available, divorce papers can be served in as little as one day.

it depends on who serves them, how hard they are to track down and how much they dont want to be served.
it also depends on your local laws how long they have to serve them.
one of my friends served my ex so i knew it was done, when and where and when he would explode.

From my experience usually 2 to 3 weeks. Depending of course how full the courts are, where the person lives, and how easy they are to find so they can serve them. Good Luck

depending on how the papers are served (i.e. through an officer or whatever)...it can take from 1 day to however long it takes to track the person who needs to be served down.

Depends on what city/county/state you're in it can vary that much. Best thing to do would be to ask someone there locally.
