I know from experience that walking only really help if you are already in labor. I took walk after walk from my due date on and on a night that I didn't take a walk was when I went into labor. I walked the corridors of the hospital, did nipple stimulation, and walked some more. Midwife wanted me to squat during the contractions but I never did because.... I just couldnt. I was still up and walking at 7cm. You need to eat something now because if you are in labor you will feel like you will never get to eat again. Then don't eat another meal because if you are like me you will lose the contents of your stomach during transition. Drink water, juice, popcicles to keep you hydrated and the sugar int he juice and popcicles will help to keep your energy up.

If your body is fully ready and you are in labor (time the contractions from the beginning to the end and then time how long it is between, if it isnt' regular it is false labor and most likely braxton hicks) If they are regular.... the walking will help move things along and nipple stimulation will really help progress to stronger contractions. They will feel Really strong during the stimulation. Have your hubby or s/o suck on your breasts because that is the best way to do it. Stimulate for 10 minutes, walk for 20.... stimulate for 10, walk for 20. It worked for me!!

For some pain reliefe a warm shower over your belly is good... a warm bath is good too. Hot water will raise temperatures but a warm bath is what they use for water births.

I'm almost 37 weeks and my doc said we are good to go anytime. He said my husband and I can have sex up until I lose my mucus plug (after you lose it I guess its not safe anymore). He also recommended walking any chance I get and nipple stimulation. Good luck!

Yes, walking helped me, and we are not talking about normal walking.(to the person who said if walking worked all women would be on bed rest) I walked for an hour and rested and walked again and so on. And I went into labor the next day. And it can also help you have shorter labor. Mine was only 6 hours.
And it is not a good idea to take a hot bath, as someone else suggested. A hot bath can raise the baby's temp and that is not good.
Congrats.

I was dilated 1 and 1/2 cent for a month and a half. My son was two weeks late. He came when he was ready! My Mother-in-law gave me the castor oil and orange juice thing, and it is supposed to start labor. All it did was taste yucky! Then she said if she drove me over a really bumpy road, I would go into labor. Nope all that did was jostle me around.
The doctor will monitor you and will induce you if need be. He induced me after doing a blood test. I had my son in less than two hours after my water bag was popped by the doctor. So, do not be worried, he/she is just enjoying life inside you too much!

I went hiking through the woods in deep snow to cut down a Christmas tree 2 days before my last baby was born. She wasn't due for another 8 days, so I think the extra exercise might have sped things up a bit! Can't say for sure. Babies will come when they are ready. :)
Best wishes for you and your soon-to-be-born new baby!

Not really, not until you are actually in labor, then it helps speed up the process.

If walking sent women into labor, all women would be on permanent bedrest for the last half of pregnancy. :)

I know some women who swear by walking! Try sex too...if you can. Having an orgasm is important because it causes small contractions which can jumpstart labor.
