Good question. They showed poor judgment on the place they gave their statement in, but they didn't deserve the results from it. Their statement got blown way the hell out of proportion. They are talented singers, and it is a shame the way they have been bounced off of Country Stations. Part of it is Country Music is in some aspects very patriotic, that was why there was such a big backlash.

I am ashamed that Bush is from Texas or anywhere else in America... but it should have been said on home soil not in England!

I think everyone overreacted about the whole thing. She did speak her mind.. and she should be allowed to in a free country. But it was still something that she could have keep to herself.. especially in a sensitive time as that.
I LOVE the dixie chicks though. They have great music... and what they did ... does not affect their music.

hate the dixie chicks. they should not even be considered country. i think they should keep their statements to themselves, if we wanted thier opinion, we would have asked for it.

It's tricky to mix entertainment with politics. Just look at Jane Fonda's example. She will always and forever be "Hanoi Jane" to the veterans of the war in Vietnam. I would prefer that the Dixie Chicks just sing some country tunes. I've always appreciated their musical talent. I really don't give a hoot about hearing any entertainer's opinions on President Bush or any other subject. By the way, I'm a Democrat so don't have sympathy for any Republican.

i hate when bands try to make political statements like that. For the most part, musicians are poorly educated on worldly issues and have no business making specific attacks on political issues. I'm not a huge Bush fan but they did go overboard. Whatever happened to the bands that knew how to protest without sounding so ridiculous? For example, take Buffalo Springfields "For what it's worth" versus someone like the dixie chicks whose strong one-sided views just blast specific people in an unfair manner.

I disagreed with them somewhat at first. Looking at all the negative comments about the war in Iraq when it first began - at least from Canadians, I could see why they were being so gung-ho with this anti-war business. I actually thought this war would be a good thing. But I disagreed with the backlash in the US, nonetheless, and continued to listen to their music. I thought Natalie Maines taking back that comment was a little cowardly of her. Now, with all these troops dying and we're getting nowhere in the war, (we still have yet to capture bin Laden) I fully agree with the Dixie Chicks. I think Bush should've been impeached months ago, and the Republicans (especially Elisabitch Hasselbutt) need to wake up to the truth about him, and the lies he spoon-fed them. Hillary in 2008!

The Dixie Chicks have some good music. However, they need to keep their politics to themselves. When people go to concerts, they are going to see the show NOT hear about politics. Even though that thing with the Dixie Chicks happened about 5 years ago, I still say they should have kept their mouths shut. Even if they would have made a PRO-Bush statement, my opinion would be the same. NOBODY wants to hear any political talk at a concert. Plus making an anti-Bush comment out of the country was chicken sh*t.

It's been blown way out of proportion and people should get on with their lives and let them back on country radio stations. They are a good bunch of girls that just spoke their minds and got nailed for it.
