It's ironic that most of the world's heroine is produced by those who pray five times a day. Every religious belief has its hypocrites. I wonder if those poppy farmers would grow grapes that produce wine.

That's how we pay China for the debt. Remember Iran contras?

From what I've read & seen..Opium is the chief crop in some regions..like corn & wheat are here..& many make their living producing the crop. A very difficult problem to solve.

In many cases, the farmers are being coerced to raise crops of opium to repay the debt to the Taliban who bailed them out financially.

Of course, if people weren't heroin and opium junkies in the first place, they wouldn't have a market to sell to....

Frankly I don't know the answer you expect to get, but in all likelihood, the first line in the market chain is the local tribal lords, just as it has been for centuries.
After that....I'm reasonably sure the same people are making money on it as were making money on it before. Perhaps not the same individuals, but the same types.

This question is posted in "politics," so I wonder if you are implying that the administration is profiting. If that is your point, I'd dismiss it unless you have some hefty mainstream well documented links.

I am disgusted by much of what this administration has done, but I don't think they are as conniving as some here seem to imply. Provide proof, and I'll change my mind. However, if all you do is say, "Well, I don't like them, so they must be bad to the core, " then I'll dismiss your opinion as unfounded.

Does anyone else here ever tire of hyperbole?

Makes you wander, doesn't it.

So?

Or are you trying to imply, that you would rather return 25 MILLION humans to slavery under the Taliban just to curb heroine production? Sounds like a good trade, sure the Taliban murdered women just for going to school, but that's a small price to pay to lower the heroine production.

Obviously, there are still problems in Afghanistan. However, thanks to our brave soldiers, those problems don't include being murdered for wearing the wrong hair cut, wanting to practice a different religion, or being a woman in a classroom. You need to get your head out of your ***.

According to your idealogy.... it must be Bush and Cheney right?
Give it a rest.
Herione production is skyrocketing because the Taliban is using the funds from it....to buy new weapons.
Its an act of desperation on their end of things.
Especially since they are hunted down and killed like dogs in Afghanistan.... and even the local population hates them.

Where did you get the idea the Taliban stopped production? It was the #1 $$$ earner for them. An added benefit, they were addicting and destroying the infidels of the world, especially in Europe and America. And we are paying them to do it.
