...indeed, your description is quite vague, but I'm still going to take a wild stab at this; two films, off the top of my head, which match your description, might be the 1977 horror chiller, "Cathy's Curse"...or perhaps "Kill and Go Hide", which is also known as "The Child", and released that same year...
...one of either of these film might be what you're looking for, but at first glance, I'm inclined to think that the latter film is the one!!!
