Good to see you Wally
I used a Melitta drip method thirty years ago.
But forty years ago I used a percolator, I even have an old electric perk my former mother-in-law gave me that her mother had given her in the thirties. I have a feeling electric perks have been around longer that we thought.
Now I have an espresso machine I only use once a year, and a for everyday, three times a day, its a Mr.Coffee.
The hardest thing to use was a regular percolator on a campfire, you had to watch it all the time.

I remember when we had a double decker coffee pot. Mom would put the ground coffee in the top and put boiling water over it. Then it would seep through to the botton part. I still have the old pot, but I am using a Black and Decker coffee maker. We hate it! The water and coffee pour all over the counter top and make a real big mess. I'm exchanging a Christmas gift for a really good coffee pot. Thanks for asking.

Heavens no, peculator are for wimps. Here the proper formula, one pan, one cup water, one teaspoon coffee or one tablespoon (depending on how you like your coffee) boil the concoction for five minutes slop it into a cup and enjoy. Just like my dad use to make.

I have one of those I used when I went camping but now I also use the French Press. I broke one but found an "Unbreakable" one I use in the trailer.
My parents had an electric percolator for their coffee. It would be right on the breakfast table for easy access.
At home, I have a drip because it's easier to setup at night and just push the button in the morning.

I use a coffee press, doesn't need any energy, gas or electric. Just some hot water and nice fresh ground coffee and makes a great cup, or however many cups you want.
If I am having a large crowd, I do have a big Krups drip coffee maker that I got free with Gevalia coffee some years ago.
I do remember the old percolators, still use one when we go camping!................ remember putting an egg in the bottom of the pot?
