That guy who parks himself in the slot and takes abuse to the backside from the other teams D-men and often times their goalie.. He sometimes travels less than 15-20 feet from the net for many of his goals.. who is the current rebound scoring king and deflecting master in the league..
I have my pick, but you guys have some fun with this for a while.. Hint-- my picks last name starts with L...

Hope you all have a safe and enjoyable time tonight...

My choice was Robert Lang-- he just has a knack for things falling right on his stick.. Excellent offseason pick-up for Chicago..

Holmstrom. He has been for quite some time IMO.

Ciccarelli was a great all-time garbage goal scorer.

Sorry about the Wings bias, I just can't think of anybody right now who can hold a candle to what Holmstrom does in front of the net.

I have a feeling your vote might be for David Legwand, which wouldn't bother me that bad either, we grew up in the same minor hockey program, he's just 5 years younger.

You have got me stumped then. The only other L that comes to mind for being great in front of the net would be John LeClair, but since he got waived..........

Well isn't Holmstrom injured though? That wouldn't classify him as "current" lmfao. Either way, I'd much rather have Smyth, there's just something about Holmstrom's face that pisses me off >:( He always looks so damn weird.

LITY: wow, I didn't even know someone kept a stat of goals scored within 10 ft. of the net, not to mention that Smyth leads it.

For parking in front and creating havoc right now, I would say Holmstrom. For actually scoring the garbage goals I would definitely say Ryan Smyth. Smyth usually gets about 30 goals but also has what is probably the softest, lamest shot in the NHL.

Other greats of yore that come to mind are Dino Ciccerelli and Tim Kerr.

Ryan Smyth, Holmstrom, today. In their time Ciccerelli and Mellanby.

Of course, y'all know I think Homer (aka Holmstrom) is the man. I know I might be a little biased when it comes to the Wings - but I do try to keep an open mind :-)

There certainly are a lot of good ones who can take the abuse and find the back of the net. Smyth is certainly one that comes to mind.

There are alot of guys that do that from time to time. But Smyth and Holmstrom are always there. I am sure there are alot of people here who have their favs, Happy New year.

Ciccarelli came to mind first. That guy was the Deflection Rebound King. I wished more players did that these days.

Oh you said current: Not a big Sabres Fan, but Thomas Vanek was pretty good at that last year.

The first guy who comes to mind for me is Ryan Smyth.

I've seen him play a lot of games, and I have a hard time remembering him scoring a goal more than 15 feet away from the net. Loose pucks, rebounds, deflections - you name the garbage option, and he can do it.

I think Smyth is up there with the all-time garbage greats like Dino Cicarelli and Tim Kerr.

Definitly Mark Parrish. Out of his 200 goals, like 130 of them were parked infront of the net.
