The hard part about choosing a pill is that different women react differently to different pills. So something that works great for me might cause some nasty side effects in you, and vice versa.
Most side effects last only 2-3 months. If you experience something really unbearable or it persists longer than a few months, try switching pills- there's bound to be one out there that works for you.
Some general advice: don't go on low-dose if you're tall and/or big. I'm 5'8'' and about average weight for my height, and I bled right through low-dose. Also, if you have bad cramps, you want a pill with a relatively high progesterone content.

The best thing to do is talk to your doctor. Different birth control can have different affects on different people, so there really isn't a best birth control.

I've been on Kariva for almost two years, NO side affects whatsoever.
But it varies from person to person and brand to brand. What might be problematic for one might be perfect for you!
(I would not recommend depo provera, been on it, hated it, off of it and slowly recovering!)

It depends on your body as they affect people differently. Personally, I was first put on Ortho Trycyclean Lo and had awful side effects, so I was switched to Yaz and have had no side effects. (By the way to the first abstinence person, abstinence is good, but sex isn't the only reason people are put on the pill).
