a defying moment to Canada and what are important facts?

I'm pretty sure you mean defining moment instead of defying - but no matter.

I'm not a 100% sure but I believe the Korean War was the first international conflict that Canada was a participate in under their own rule. Previous to WWII Canada to a large extent had 'home rule' but was still subservient to England in international matters and the Canadian Army was under the command of the English Army. I believe that Canada entered the Korean War of its own volition.

World War II was actually the first conflict that Canada entered under her own rule. But I think Korea was the first conflict Canada entered for reasons other than England being at war. Korea was a UN operation, and Canada was part of that force. Prior to that it was always a matter of coming to the aid of England. And it started a long history of contributing forces to UN efforts.
