Would that be a first? Same team winning 2 consecutive years?

Another question ... If the Patriots win, would that be a first? 16-0 season + Super bowl win?

The Colts winning back to back Superbowls will not be the first. Green Bay, Miami, Dallas, San Fran, Denver, and New England have won back to back Superbowls before. New England would be the first to go 16-0 in the regular season and win a Superbowl.

The steelers are the only team 2 win consecutive superbowls TWICE !! but several other teams have won consecutive times..

Dolphins had a 14-0 season and superbowl win which is perfect but the patriots would be more impressive because it is two more games and unlike the dolphins they have to deal with a salary cap

The Patriots would be the first to go 19-0, the 1972 Miami Dolphins were 17-0 in their undefeated season.

As for the Colts, no. It would be the first time the COLTS have won back to back Super Bowls. It has been done several times. The Green Bay Packers won Super Bowl 1 & 2 back to back. The Miami Dolphins won Super Bowls 7 & 8. The Pittsburgh Steelers won Super Bowls 9 & 10, and they also won Super Bowls 13 & 14. The San Francisco 49ers won Super Bowls 23 & 24. The Dallas Cowboys won Super Bowls 27 & 28. The Denver Broncos won Super Bowls 32 & 33. The New England Patriots won Super Bowls 38 & 39.

Nobody has ever won 3 in a row. Two teams have won 3 in 4 years though, the Patriots (36, 38, & 39), the Cowboys (27, 28, & 30). The Dolphins appeared in 3 consecutive Super Bowls losing Super Bowl 6, and winning 7 & 8. The Buffalo Bills appeared in 4 consecutive Super Bowls losing all 4 of them (25, 26, 27, & 28).

Interesting questions, but neither would be a first-ever occurrence (well, 19-0 would be unique for a perfect season).

Several teams have won back-to-back Super Bowls. All of the details are available on www.NFL.com.

In the late 1970's. the Pittburgh Steelers won four straight Super Bowls. That's the current record, and the NFL's parity seems to be the reason no single team dominates for very long. Great names from that team include Terry Bradshaw (quarterback) and Lynn Swan (wide receiver). You still see a lot of Terry Bradshaw on Fox NFL coverage. He's one of the four guys commenting at hafltime and between games every Sunday.

In the 1972-1973 season, the Miami Dolphins had the perfect season. They won all *14* regular season games, all of their playoff games, and Super Bowl VII against the Washington Redskins. The great names of that team included Bob Griese (sp? quarterback) and Larry Czonka (running back). Don Shula was the coach.

If the Patriots win this Super Bowl, their perfect season will be slightly more record-setting than the Dolphins in 1973. That's because the 16-game season this year is longer than the NFL seasons of the past. That's also the reason so many single-season records are being broken these days. The great record-setters of the past simply didn't play as many games per season.

HAHAHAHAHA (that first answer got me)

But, no it wouldn't be a first in history for two Super Bowl wins. As far as NE, it would be though. Mia went 17-0,(14-0 reg, 3-0 post)

no and yes. The patriots won 2 consecutive a few years ago. And the broncos have done it before. It will be the first time a team went 16-0 and win a superbowl, this is the first time a team has gone 16-0 in the regular season. The 1972 dolfins went undefeated and won the superbowl but that was when there was a 14 game schedule.
