Yeah, you may have broken your coccyx - my mom's done that. There's honestly nothing you can do about it. You can buy a 'donut pillow' or something...it's like cushioned around the edges with nothing in the middle. She sits on it all the time so she doesn't have to actually sit on her coccyx - that's all I can tell you. I'd take it easy and hope you just bruised it! Sorry!

It happens all the time to people that are just starting riding or aren't used to riding a lot. Like riding a whole week at pony camp either if you hadn't ridden much, or at all, or maybe you only ride once or twice a week for a couple hours, could still give you some soreness. Their isn't much you can do about it other than rest. Someone else mentioned a back massage? That would definitely help. If the pain doesn't go away in a few days then you might want to get it checked out. Some people wear back braces to help, but others tough it out. You get used to it after a couple months hard riding. Then of course, when you get old I would imagine those years catch up with you and it hurts like crap. Oh the suffering we do to sit on the back of a horse! lol

You might want to get it checked out just to make sure it's still in okay shape. I know that's kind of embarrassing. They make donut pillows and such. The tail bone is very slow healing. I broke mine about 3 years ago, and I still have pain occassionally, like when I'm sitting on a hard stadium bench in the cold during football season. It's probably not going to go away soon, but a doctor might be able to help you get relief.

It all depends on what you did to it- if it's just bruised, follow the previous person's advice and get a "donut pillow" to sit on- they can be found at a drug store.
However- it is very easy to break the tip off of the tailbone, which can lead to extreme pain. If the pain persists, see your doctor.

coccyx (tailbone). I broke mine once by falling on it during hockey. I went to the doctor, they told me the only thing they can do is just keep pressure off of it. buy a donut like thing to sit on.
