In 1972, I camped out at the Grand Canyon. It was about 35 or 40 when we went to sleep, but during the night the temp dropped into the 20s and we got up with 4 inches of snow on us. In 1978, I got trapped in my truck for 4 days in northern Illinois when the Blizzard hit, and the temp was 40 or 50 below. Even with my truck running, I had ice inside the windshield.

I do not like camping. Once when I was about 12, and was forced to go camping with my family, there was a storm and lightening traveled up the camper and zapped my bum! Seriously. It didn't hurt too much but it scared me!

Well, it depends on your definition of cold. I have but it only got down to the 60's. That was cold enough for me!!!

yea, it was below zero and we slept on the ground. took me days to warm up after that. Even with blankets and sleeping bags. Don't think I'll ever do that again
