Best indoor palm? Definitely Kentia Palm. (Howeia fosteriana)
Best palm for small yards? The Veitchia family like the Christmas Palm, or maybe Foxtail Palm (Wodyetia bifurcata)
Hardiest (available) Palm? Windmill Palm (Trachycarpus fortunei)
Hardiest feather-leaf palm? Pindo Palm (Butia capitata)
Most stately (large scale): The Royal Palms (Roystonea family)
Best miniature palm (indoors or outdoors) Pygmy Date Palm (Phoenix roebelenii)

The hardiest palms are Sago. There were a lot of them, in sheltered spots, north of Dallas Tx. You wouldn't get below 15 degrees for more than a day or so, there. Even so, they lost all their leaves each year.

If you get colder than that, you can't have an outdoor palm.

If you never get frost, then you need to choose on the leaf shape you like, and the size you can stand. Look for a local Arboretum to see what grows in your area, and what they look like when they are big.

I don't expect that you are going to get a confident answer without knowing what climate you are in and how you are wanting to use the palm. Some stay small while others tower to the height of a 3 story building. Could you elaborate as to location?
