Give him some time to settle in. I used to play the radio for mine all day. After awhile he wouldn't be quiet till the sun went down

Whistle to your parakeet and talk to it a lot. Play classical music, as the bird will try to copy it. Cute! Play the radio when you're not around.
Parakeets don't usually whistle a lot; they chirp and they "talk" if they hear people talk. I don't mean saying words, that takes more work, but parakeets chatter.
The more your bird bonds with you, the more it will chirp and chatter to you. Parakeets are smart, and they don't bond instantly; it takes a little time.
Let the bird live in a room where you eat; it makes the bird feel part of the "flock."
If you don't spend enough time with your bird, get it a companion; parakeets are social birds.

My parakeet is quiet when there is no noise too. So I leave the radio on or the t.v. on for him and he just whistles and sings all day, hope this works for you!

He needs company, or use marrows to make him think he has company

Try talking to it or playing all kind of music for it(my sisters Parakeet LOVES country music) you never know it might be just a quite one! Give it some time! I don't know about introducing them now but maybe if you get another one form the same place(??) My sister also had two and they whistled together and then one died and the one we have now is sad so maybe a Buddy would be nice.

Where do you keep the cage, parakeets are social birds, and maybe that is why he only makes noise when he hears allot of noise in the house.
Do you want to tame the bird more? If not, I would advise getting him a friend.
If you plan on taming and spending allot of time with your bird, having only one is better, but then they depend on you for being a partner.
