Is it correct that the Spanish government pay for the senior citizens to have a holiday at the seaside free of charge every year.?If so why cannot our government in the UK adopt the same policy?for our senior citizens.

J.S. I have been informed that, the spanish governments gesture is -Historic- so I think that falls into the catagory that seems to cause you some degree of concern, "happy new year".by the way I listed this under -Senior citizens- why this has been slotted into history, "Pass".

Jack.P, The weeks holiday is not a replacement for the essentials of life in Spain as you seem to infer,? I am told on very good authority that the health care is as good as the UK and, from what we see regularly now here probably far better.but I only write as, I have seen and conversed with many, spaniards.

Because they are too busy lining their own pockets, taking backhands, to make sure they are alright in their old age.

I have a senior citizen free bus pass and next year I can travel anywhere in the UK for free, so there is my holiday and knowing what our weather is like I'm not sure I'd want to go to the seaside! I think we get a good deal here in that we have as senior citizens £100 per year to help with heating. We have free medical attention which of course we pay for from our working wage. I think you pay for medical attention in Spain and Ive never heard of these free holidays.

Would be nice here in the USA. USA money is given away to foreign heads of states for their castles and to fight wars all over the globe.
Just imagine how well off the USA population could be ,if all this money could be used to make American life better and easier for everyone.

Hear they're working on something for the USA, it's in conjunction with a Commonwealth program having to do with one of Australias Soylent green beach side facilities.

Sounds like what we in America call a "Pork Barrell" program. It is not a necessity of life and it's the responsibility of the families to provide a seaside free holiday for the elders...but only if they can afford to do so.

If the UK Government gave us tax concessions on our pensions we could afford to pay for our own holiday but with the money grabbing cretin in charge at the moment, some hope of that happening.

Here in Australia, anyone receiving any kind of pension gets a free train trip once a year , wherever they want to go. Its a good way for many seniors to visit their families. My sister uses it to see her son, and says that the trains are always full of seniors going off to see their kids. Its a good service !

If senior citizens need anything from the government anywhere that isn't available to the rest of the citizenry it oughtn't be some frivolous luxury item.
Food, rent, heating and possibly medical assistance might be needed by a lot of seniors and many might be forced by need to accept it. A trip to the beach is something most can survive without.
