As your midwife said, there is no reason to worry. The baby has lots of room to move during that time and finding the hearthbeat can be hard even when there isn't room to move. I was 14 weeks before they found mine on doppler and at my last two appt.'s at 26 and 29 weeks they couldn't find a heartbeat and had to do an ultrasound to make sure everything is ok. It's scary but soon you'll be feeling movement and you'll know that everything is fine, even when no heartbeat is detected.

I have had the exact same scare. I know how frightening that can be! In fact, my doctor even panicked a little an had me run over to the ultrasound room so he could check for a heartbeat visually.
It really is still early. If you don't hear a heartbeat at your next appt, she will definitely do some testing. In the meantime, the best way to reassure yourself is with pregnancy symptoms. Are your breasts still sore? Do you still have other little pregnancy nuances, like a runny nose or mild headaches? Those are more reliable that you are still pregnant, with a healthy pregnancy, than whether or not you could hear the heartbeat at only 13 weeks.
I hope this reassures you. Good luck!

The doctor couldn't find my baby's heart beat at 11 weeks with that thing. I could only hear it via ultrasound. I am going back for another checkup next week ( I will be 15 weeks) so I am hoping that we can hear it then! It isn't uncommon. Better luck next visit!

You should be able to hear the baby at around 10 weeks. If you are on the heavier side it could effect it. But you may want to get an ultra sound to be sure everything is ok.
Best wishes!!

It varies, because I heard my babies heartbeat at around 12 weeks or so, and the next time I went they had a hard time finding it, but sometimes they can't find the hearbeat because they are searching for it too high up, tell her to go down by your pelvic bone, and I can just about guarantee she'll hear it(speaking from experience)! Good Luck, and don't worry!

13 weeks is when the window starts to open for the doppler, but even at 15-18 weeks it can be difficult to find it.
My midwife had to spend 10-15 mintues every visit with the doppler all over my belly trying to hear my son- sometimes she just couldnt. It wasnt until about 20-21 weeks that she could find him easily.

They found my babys heartbeat at 10 weeks. But its common not to find the babys heartbeat as late as 14 weeks. I would ask that you be rechecked at 14-15 weeks rather then having to wait another 4 weeks to be rechecked.

It varies...it really does. I have heard women, like you, who couldn't hear it at 13 weeks, etc.
I heard mine for the first time at 6w5d.
It all depends on the equipment and the baby's willingness to cooperate.
Good luck!
