I was just wondering if you can get pregnant the day after your period when you are on the pill? I take my pill very religiously. I just ended my period a few days ago and because I wanted to start my pill pack on a sunday there were two days I didn't take it. I totally FORGOT and my husband and I had unprotected sex last night. I remembered this morning and I am totally freaked out. What do you think my chances are of getting pregnant?? I took a pill yesterday and will definately be taking one today on time. Please, no one try and freak me out; I'm doing a good enough job of that on my own.

Also, I know that with the pill supposedly no egg is formed during the month. Therefore, I don't think one could have formed that quickly after my period, in a span of 2 days. I've seen the miracle of life video and all that jazz so I know its a pretty spectacular chance for a woman to get pregnant at all but I'm still completely worried.

One more thing, I've been on the pill since March of 06; almost 2 years. Its pretty well in my system I'd say. Does that make a difference? I recently switched from Aleese to Ortho-Low. I switched 3 months ago. Do any of these things make any difference?
I've called several people and most people think I'm worryed over nothing...

Ok here's the facts, the pill supresses your ovulation. The pill will not prevent conception if there was an egg to fertilize. The chances of that happenning over 2 days... unlikely. It's good you realized this and started taking them again. Each pill pack should have directions that include what to do in the event that you miss a pill or two.

Now.. use an additional form of bc. In a week or two get a home pregnancy test and find out for sure. There is no use in freaking out, it only serves to make you uncomfortable and raise your blood pressure.

The fact that you were ending your period, means that there is no lining prepared to accept an egg for implantation... simple biology. Also the process takes several days/weeks this is why a woman is only fertile a few days a month which is in the middle of her cycle. So please relax luv. I don't think you have alot to worry about this time. But like I said get a home pregnancy test in a week or two to be sure.

I wouldn't run out and get plan B yet. Do you really want to add all those other chemical and hormones to wack your system out? Hugggs and Happy New Year

i believe it may be, but im honestly not too sure myself...im on the pill too, isnt it nice how th doctors dont give u those specifics?? lol if u find out id love to know! i was told the same thing about the egg, so i dont think u are...plus the female body is very good at killing off the invaders so u should (hopefully) be in the clear....give ur gyno a call to make sure, then maybe take a prego test to be sure.

It is a valid worry. Be worried, but be smart about it. Get to a clinic and take a pregnancy test. And, because you had sex last night, get your butt to a pharmacy and get Plan B. You'll probably pay 40 dollars for it, but it will help you sleep better. It is NOT an abortion pill ( if you're worried), it is a large dosage of hormone that will discourage implantation of any egg hanging out in your uterus.

If you just ended your period you are probably okay, however if you want to avoid making some tough decisions later if you do find yourself pregnant, it may be in your best interest to obtain Plan B as soon as possible. It is effective up to 72 hours after unprotected intercourse.

Much luck, and don't forget to take your pills next time, dear <3

Its as simple as this:

ANY TIME YOU HAVE SEX YOU RISK THE CHANCE OF PREGNANCY

On your period, before/after your period, on the pill/ring/shot/patch/condom, ANY TIME you have sex, you risk the chance of pregnancy.

The ONLY 100% effective form of birth control is ABSTINENCE.

It also does not matter how long you've been on the pill. If you have had sex, you have a chance of becoming pregnant.
