Karen, this may prove to be a very difficult task as he has become very accustomed to having this facial hair and it has become a very part of his being. You may be able to convince him to take it off by merely suggesting that you believe he would look years younger without it and would like to see him change for a while. But he may very well resist. It would be like him asking you to remove something that you have on your person and you not really wanting to do so. Best of luck and hopefully you two can resolve this issue easily.

tell him you would like to see the face he has been hiding from you for over 20 years! Be sure you are supportive of him, as he will look VERY different to you. He is secure in keeping himself covered.

He's had it since before you met and you fell in love and married him anyway. The mustache is a part of him and is not an abusive trait of the relationship. Some men can't even grow facial hair and it affects their ego. I wouldn't let a mustache affect an otherwise good relationship. Think about this: What if you had extremely long hair your whole life and your husband wanted you to cut it all off. Would you do it?

Do you shave your tender areas?

I have worn a mustache for 35 years.
It is because I was never able to shave the upper lip without the "nicks and cuts of a blade!"

It would take a very good reason besides your wishing for a change to get that mustache off.

What is the big deal??? Leave him alone. If he is happy with it then back off. It's not hurting you is it?

That is like asking a girl who has had long hair most of her life to give it up. It may be too much to ask.

Why do you want to change him? If he is not good enough as he is then you should not have stayed married to him for 20 years.

Take care,
Troy

Shave it off yourself while he's sleeping, or maybe just half of it, then he'll have no choice....LOL J/K

Mine always says it bugs him to keep it too long and at times wants to shave it off, but never does, just tell him that you would really like to see him without it and if it doesn't feel right to him being gone that you would be happy if he grew it back.

Sedate him, and shave it off while he is sleeping.

Suggest that he might look more sexy without it. If neither of you like it after he shaves it, he can always grow it back. However...if there are kids involved, make sure he does it when they can see it happening. My dad had a full beard and moustache when I was little, and one day (I think I was about 4), he woke me up completely clean-shaven...scared me half to death!!! lol
