The reason was partially genetic and partially due to his living a life of excess. In addition, he had a doctor who prescribed whatever drugs Elvis wanted, apparently. His life was comparable to those of so many rock stars: too much indulgence in drugs and booze resulting in either overdoses or bodily destruction.

Although he was called "The King",he certainly was not royalty.It is his own fault he died young.

No mystery here.....Elvis overindulged himself with his eating habits and drugs. No one around him was willing or able to help him change his ways. All in all a bad combination and caused his early death.

he was the mozart of his generation. they didn't really innovate, but took what was available and made it spectacular. apparently, this leads to an early demise.
