The two new "witnesses" claim that they became suspicious of Murat when he said he had to go home and change his clothes as he had been wearing them all day, (blue t.shirt and jeans) but they claim to have seen him in a striped shirt and trousers earlier.
Look at these photos of Robert Murat and David Payne on May 4th. Murat is wearing a blue t.shirt & jeans and Payne is wearing a striped shirt & trousers. There is also a STRIKING resemblence between the two. Clearly a case of mistaken identity. David Payne and his wife also stayed on in Portugal after the rest of the Tapas group left. Am I alone in thinking that Dr. Payne knows a LOT more than he has told. Incidently Gerry is a witness for the defence in a case of malpractice against David Payne

I think there is a lot of truth in this as Payne does look remarkably like Murat. I think all the supposed "sightings" of Murat by all these "witnesses" could in fact be mistaken and it was Payne they had seen. Of course the Tapas gang are going to welcome the blame being on Murat and Payne is not going to come forward an admit it was him so the Tapas gang are weaving a nice little web of lies and deceit which all the gullible public are believing.

Maybe. Maybe not. You don't what they saw or how sure they are of their identification any more than I do.

Never mind that, though. Am I alone in thinking that, for someone to set up and maintain a website "for information and a record for Madeleine Beth McCann" when they know NONE of those involved (I assume) and to gather there all kinds of pictures and all sorts of pointless information including dates of birth AND to call it "gerrymccannsblogs.co.uk" is, to say the least, disturbing and verging on sinister?

I would agree with you. They said that they had seen someone "resembling" Murat smoking the previous night.

If Murat didn't change his clothes that day, and apparently photographs prove he was wearing the same clothes morning and afternoon, then it only goes to prove that there was someone else in the area at the time who bore a strong resemblance to Murat, So Murat's alibi still holds good.

Well Done. I wonder why he stayed behind when the McCanns left

The women said they saw Robert Murat in a striped top and trousers, and then MOMENTS later (not hours later), he was in a blue shirt and trousers. There is a resemblance between the two, and it may be a case of mistaken identity the first time these ladies saw him. Other witnesses could be mistaken, but that is only a possibility.

On the day in question, there are photos of Robert Murat in the morning and the evening, and he has a blue shirt and trousers on in each picture, so I truly believe that the two ladies could very possibly have seen David Payne. The trouble is, this case is so full of 'possiblys' and 'maybes' that no-one can state anything for certain.
