Chromates and dichromates are salts of chromic acid and dichromic acid, respectively. Chromate salts contain the chromate ion, CrO42−, and have an intense yellow color. Dichromate salts contain the dichromate ion, Cr2O72−, and have an intense orange color.

Dichromate is orange. Are you sure you don't mean chromate? Lead chromate was at one time used as a yellow pigment under the name "chrome yellow", but not now because both components are poisonous and because its colour can be affected over time by atmospheric pollutants.
