There were no actual Barbie dolls on the recall list as the dolls themselves don't have lead paint on them.
The Barbie items that were recalled were several of the Fashion Fever furniture sets that had lead paint on some of the play pieces. These furniture sets didn't have any dolls in the box.
The other Barbie set that was recalled was Barbie & Tanner the dog. This set was recalled due to the small magnets that were inside the dog food. If the magnets were swallowed, they can cause intestinal blockages & perforations.
The majority of Mattel toys that were involved in the recalls were Fisher Price toys, geared at preschoolers, NOT Barbie.
To the poster who is upset that the CEO of Mattel apologized to the Chinese, do you honestly that he did it totally on his own? The US government will do ANYTHING to keep in the good graces of the Chinese government, including bringing pressure on Mattel. It is the US government who has granted most favored trading status to China & it is the US government who calls the shots, NOT the CEO of Mattel. Do you have any idea how in debt the US is to China?

I wouldn't... I don't believe it's safe, and even if it were, I would try not to, b/c they didn't care enough about safety before to make safe toys.
They have too much control over products we buy anyway... we get food stuffs from them,etc.. Shoes come from China.
