I think the girl's mother told her what to write in the letter. Lying and saying her father was killed in Iraq was awful. I feel sorry for that little girl being raised by such a greedy dishonest mother. Win at all cost? What an attitude towards life.

P.S. The mother should be made to pay in full for those concert tickets.

That is the first I had heard of it. How sad , and the mother actually encouraged that behavior until caught.

No, I didn't hear about it. JuJu, thanks for the link. I agree with Wally. But, if CPS took all the kids away that needed to be taken away, there would be a lot of homeless kids. I worked for Probation for over 8 years. I was shocked at what goes on behind closed doors. Many kids are being raised by emotionally & morally unstable, immature parents. You can't give your children values that you don't have yourself!!

The mother orchestrated the entire thing. The child deserves sympathy. she just copied and signed an essay Mom wrote.
Getting caught is the best example for the child. The little girl is embarrasses but if Mom has a lick of sense she will humbleherself and apologize. For the mother will be living this down for quite a while.
These tickets are at a premium. I tried to get them beginning a few minutes before they went on sale. With someone in line and me on the computer from home we did finally get 2 tickets in $50 range for the price of $352 online. So everyone on the family has pitched in so at the end of January my granddaughter will be told she is going and it is her birthday present. Very few can dish out over $300 for a child of 10-12 or younger can see their fave star.

I read the link and the Mother is clearly the writer and the instigator of the letter. I think the Mother should have the kid taken away by Child Services as she is definitely not a good role model for her child. If they don't do something to correct the Mother for doing something like this, the situation in the world of where people do anything and everything to lie, cheat and steal will send us into orbit. Wait, that is already being done today, what am I thinking? And the President started it all. In my opinion George Bush is leading the way to lying and cheating and stealing to get what he wants so what is wrong if some Mother does it too. But, then, this is just my opinion.

Yes, I just got through reading that article. What kind of example is that mother setting for her child to encourage her daughter to do such a thing? On a happier note, I just read in my Ohio hometown, (where I used to live) newspaper, that a young girl won the essay contest that will allow her to go see Hannah Montana. She didn't have to lie about a thing.
