Meaning we all have goals and want to achieve them. Why is it that we have to make new goals because it's a new year? Should we not be making these goals through the year?
I personally think it's an excuse to wait unitl as long as you can and then take a leap. Which in all it mostly fails. If you are going to make a plan make sure you can reach it! Don't set the bar too high where you get discoraged and quit. Good Luck and Happy New Year to you all.

The trick with N.Y.R.s is to make them in small steps that you can handle. For example, one year I decided to stop taking my tea with sugar. It too just a little while to get adjusted and now I would hate to put sugar in my tea. If you decide to do something heavy, like losing 20lbs. I think that you are doomed to failure. It is easier to do something like, "I am going to eat whole wheat bread instead of white bread" or "I am going to go for a long walk at least once a week." That way you have a good chance of keeping the resolution.

Every year we have to make some resolutions for our own sake and survival. Some are to achieve the goals and some are for fun. However if you make it with sheer determination then you are going to achieve them and life is then so beautiful dear..!

I dont make goals, resolutions or aims! I tend to live each day as it comes.

I mostly disagree. I wouldn't say it's quite like science fiction, in that there are no aliens, no time machines, no people plugged into a false reality, and nobody is fighting the dark side long, long ago in a galaxy far, far away. Also, people DO tend to set goals for themselves throughout the year. However, I agree that a new years resolution can be used as an excuse to procrastinate until the end of the year.

You make good points. Resolutions without resolve to carry them through are worthless. I guess we just like to start with a new year and a clean slate. Happy New Year!

The New Year is sort of a benchmark for making new goals, because another new year is beginning, so you can make some changes and live your life differently than you did the year before. I don't give myself to many goals, because I don't want to get overwhelmed.
