I actually watched her first match of the season yesterday at the Hopman Cup in Perth, Australia against Lucie Safarova (the match in which that picture was taken). Martina Navratilova commentated and said she looked in the best shape of her career, and I agree!
She lost focus in that 2nd set after winning the first extremely easily, but always looks very swift and seemed to have great agility. She was maybe a tad sluggish in parts of the match, but that would be expected with the first match of the season for any player. She also steamrolled home after being 4 - 2 down in the third set, she prevailed 6 - 0, 2 - 6, 7 - 5. It was a great match with many winners.
In post match interviews she made it very clear that she was fully committed to tennis, and she also said something along the lines of this being a new life, or a new chapter in her life. I think she's back, or certainly on her way.

Question is, is she motivated or just sit on the sidelines and
complain about her opponent.....She needs to learn how to
give the credit where it needs to be......
But I hope she can make a comeback only if she is determined.
But she has too many thing around her....Modelling,
commercials, designer clothing and what not....

i think serena is more motivated now and has been training harder and focusing more to tennis... will she have a comeback? i think somewhat, i am sure she misses her days of domiance back in 2002-2003... and i am sure she feels she wants to settle the score with justine henin, and she wants to continue thrashing Maria Sharpova.....
Well she win the Australian Open? well i think she seems to have more luck there then anywhere else.. that is where her game really comes to life. But i think this year will really be all about justine henin and she has a great chance of capturing all the majors or atleast 3 out of 4...

Looks can be deceiving. If she is in great shape, it will definitely help her chances, but she is always prone to injury, regardless of what shape she is in. I still think Justine Henin will be the odds on favorite to win the Australian Open.

Judging by the picture i think she looks fit but judging by the scoreline(6-0 2-6 7-5) im still not sure. Sharapova also looked good and fit in her exhibition match with Chakvetadze. I guess we'll see at the Aussie open but i still think Henin is the one they all have to beat.

your right that is a dude, serena is finished this will be her and her stupid sisters last year. just too many better players and healthy ones so no chance for easy draws anymore and with hawkeye on, no more favorable line calls and besides nobody is willing to buy tickets to see them anymore, only a few sickos who like to watch them get the snot knocked out of them.////

I hope she makes a comeback. She's got the talent, but she has to be fully focused and fit. Hopefully she'll show up at the Aussie Open and get through Henin to defend her title successfully. It won't be easy and she knows it. If she plays the same way she did last year, when she won Australia, she has the chance to walk out as champion yet again. It's all up to her.
