They say we should respect the elderly.

And I agree.

But aren't there things from your childhood and youth that makes you resentful of some people who are old now?

I used to feel the same, but during the last few years I changed my mind, due to the fact that there are fewer and fewer people who are older than me, they just stopped getting older and left. and with my 90th birthday getting nearer this trend is increasing

I seem to be just the opposite. I love older people and always have. They seem to have a story (or more than one) to tell and I love to listen to them. But I do think younger people--especially the youth of today--do not know how to relate to the elderly. They seem to know it all and don't want advice or to hear other's experiences. I love them and their stories.

I have been fortunate not to meet such people.

I don't feel resentful of old people. I do feel some sympathy for children since they'll be dealing with major climate changes and environmental disasters that are sure to come with our population getting out of control. I don't think it's necessarily old people's fault; even though we have awareness now, I don't think people care enough to make changes, and our children will be the victims (maybe me too if it comes sooner than expected).

Now please check out this very intriguing question. I really need more help with it. Thanks so much! :)

It sounds like you have problems with CERTAIN people who happen to be old, not with OLD PEOPLE in general.

I think we should respect the elderly, generally, but individual people sometimes don't deserve respect, and they shouldn't be treated like gold just because they are old. That is just as mindless as treating someone badly just because they are old. For instance, my husband's mother was an abusive psychotic and terrorized my huband and his sister when they were little. I don't care how old she gets, she gets no respect from me.
