if it mice and not rats, you might want to trap rather than bait. there will be more of mouse dying inside the structure with the bait than there would be if it were a rat problem..also outside the structure get rid of any tall grass and clutter. maybe place a few tamper resistant bait stations with rodent bait on the outside of the structure to help keep the population down around the home

glue traps are okay if you don't mind disposing of live mice - or killing the mice on the traps. the ones that snap are okay unless you have pets that could get into them - or children that can get into them. you have to hide either glue or snapping traps where this won't happen. the problem with D-con poisions are that the mice will die somewhere in the house and stink the place up really badly - and you won't be able to find the dead body. the snapping traps are probably your best bet with this information - put bait on that is difficult to get off - such as peanut butter - they love peanut butter and it smells strong so it gets their attention.

It is helpful to be given more information on the type of problem, your residence and your location. There are many ways to get rid of mice but all situations do require interpretation that is always unique. There is also the issue of varying laws; glue boards are illegal to use in some places without specific training; poisons of certain types may only be accessible by specific people. So the answer you require may not be amongst those available herein.
If you send me a message with more information I will do my best to give you the advice you need rather than some stock answer found hidden on the web.

1) Exterminator - probably best bet.
2) Cat - you will definitely notice results. Mice will usually move on to the next home when they know there is a cat around. The only problem with owning a cat is the responsibility of taking care of it.
3) Glue Traps does work, however, who can stand to dispose that stuff. I get queasy looking at live mice or dead mice either way.
4) D-Con works well also. However, if the mice die underneathe your cabinets, they will leave a strong foul odor that will linger for about three days (more or less). So, you may not want to do this.
I decided to put up with a cat and it has really worked well for us. I make sure that there is never any exposed food lying around. Bread goes in bread box. Rice goes into a tub I bought just for rice. cereal must be put away and properly sealed at all times. All spills on the counter (sugar, oatmeal, eg) must be cleaned up immediately. Dishes are always put away not left in the sink or on the counter. This has really helped.

Well, if you have mice in your house, then I'd recommend using both mouse sticky traps, and mouse poison. I don't remember the name of the poison, but it's blue squares and I got it at WalMart. The sticky traps are kind of gross, but hey, they catch mice. Goodluck
