My first thought would be, "Where are all the people I love? Are they seeing what I'm seeing? Why do I only talk to my dad when it's absolutely necessary? Why don't I ever tell my mom I love her despite all the bad decisions she made while I was growing up? Do my brothers really know that they are my heart and I'd do anything for them? Does my husband know that I'd do it all again if I could? Oh wait! He's still in bed...I can go tell him that. Why do I constantly harrass my 8 year old about not biting his lips? Why do I listen to my 5 year olds stories with less enthusiasm Mon-Fri than I do on Sat & Sun? Why do I stress about what others think of me. Why do I take failure so hard? All that matters now is the people I love and what going to happen to us all."

my first thought wud b to go back to sleep. but if i realisd that this was true, i'd gather with my family, thank god for the sunny days we had & then sincerely pray that this is just a nightmare & things wud again turn normal. its very true that we realise the importance & beauty of things only when we have lost them. bt ur question & the answers to it surely prove that there are people who realise it timely. like my ma says '' instead of crying for things we dont have, we better thank god for the gifts we have'' by tha way whoever told you that u've got to be serious to be profound.

I'd think 'oh crap, i woke up at 2am again'. If I waited a really really long time I'd think 'did someone take me really far north/south where there is no sunrise this time of year?'
I would eventually conclude there was some kind of nuclear holocaust/war/imminent threat and check all the news channels and get rather scared.
Then I'd run to the lab and excitedly chat to my friends about what on earth it could be, there'd be a big conference and "what the hell is this?" lectures --- I did physics at uni, and i'd go straight back there to find out what's going on.
Sad as this sounds, I would actually be very, very excited. Everyone in the physics department would. The equipment would be out, experiments would be going on. People would spontaneously start PhDs just on this and it would be an incredible, intense atmosphere of people Very hard at work. Wow, I'm almost hoping that it does happen now, that would be amazing!
If it didn't happen because it just never had, I imagine I wouldn't care since it really is just taken for granted, if i'd always lived with no sun, no sun = no biggie.
There are an awful lot of things in the world you wouldn't notice if they'd never existed because they really don't affect you that much. You live in whatever circumstances you're presented with and don't think much of it once you're used to it.
If something that was there suddenly wasn't I imagine fear would be the first feeling because unexpected change indicates something is wrong, and you have to work out if it is a threat or not. Once you'd lived with it long enough to realise it's not a threat anymore, you wouldn't care.
However, on a realistic scale, something as momentous as the sudden disappearance of the sun would put you in the "Let's go bungy jumping then spend my life savings in Vegas" end-of-the-world mode, since the disappearance of the Sun really would genuinely hail the end of the world.

Serious? OK. Assuming you are not reffering to the time or weather as the cause, but simply an absence of the sun, I guess I would think 2 ways at the same time. I might consider it as a sign of the end of the world,& get to Church real quick; just in case. Also, I would probably think of the wat the first shamans reacted to night, & worked their magick to make it rise again; & I might do something along those lines too. Most of all though, I just would not worry about it at all. Can I change it? No. So, what's the point of worrying about it? No point. Result, I'd just continue with life as normal.

I would wonder about my own existence and belief in myself. Was the sun just a thought in the span of my own concusoiusness, or am I the product of some one elses.
