I have been avoiding asking this question on seniors because you all seem so healthy and fit AND I don't see too many questions here about health issues ( I know use the health forum) I tried that and didn't get any good responses. I am scheduled to have Varicose vein surgery in 2 weeks and am a bit nurvous...have any of you had this done? How was the recovery time? Any advice? Thanks in advance

Yes Douglas I am looking forward to wearing shorts this summer! I may even buy a couple summer dresses! Thank you all for all the well wishes! It is going to be difficult to choose a best answer.

I have had problems with mine for years. I had the stripping done about 15 years ago and it was not something I would suggest to anyone. I had the new endo venous laser (ablation) procedure done just a few months ago. The pain was minimal and for the most part recovery was very quick. If you would like more information, feel free to email me.

I hope you have a speedy recovery and let me know how it went because I too would like to wear shorts again.

Much different today than years ago of course and my sister had it done and said that she had only minimal discomfort and she is a wimp.
Good luck and get ready to wear those new shorts this summer.

My son-in-law had it and the recovery time was not long at all. I forget what all they had to do but it didn't slow him down either. If you ask a question on some of the other sites, they are either too serious and intense or condescending.

Although not a senior, I know a fair bit about medical issues and try not to worry about simple varicose vein surgery. It's a piece of cake, the recovery time is short and pain quite insignificant. Trust me on this.

My Sister had this done too, she was fine, she said it wasn't no where near as bad as she feared, recovery was very quick, I'm sure you will be fine, all the best to you xx

You might want to try using WebMD.com. When I have specific questions about drugs, procedures, etc. I usually go there.

You might want to check out this specific link.

What you are doing is the most important thing, getting information to be able to make an informed decision. All my best.

My sister had it done a few years ago and said it was a lot less painful than she'd feared. She recovered pretty fast, too. Good luck!
