Answer is simple but execution of it is very difficult.
Bad students - Never read books.
good students - They read their books one hr a day.
Better students - They read their syllabus at least 3 hrs a day.
Best students - They read and practice 6 hrs a day.
Toppers - They always read books, virtually they do not have any other interest to spare time even for food.

Get interested in what you study or study what you are interested/have talents for, this is the first base.Have correct study habits,that is organise and make a list of what we want to study,prioritise,divide,do recall more than re-reading and so on.Also, see how the top ranker you know of, study,try copying it!

My advice,try Ritalin, to help you focus, some kids do that to focus better, and get somewhat of and advantage over others. The other things would be to take notes, and review daily and build a rapport with professors, so they my be somewhat more leineit with you or offer you more chances.
