If you look at all the stuff you have spoken about it is seldom the output of a single mind. There have been hits by some and failures by others. As a collective thinking organism we are definitely a force to reckon with but the individuality of the thinking units has a limit. So we cant necessarily presume that we get wiser with age in reference to a single thinking and acting unit but on the whole we definitely are.

The word intelligence comes from Latin, to perceive. We perceive, we can do better from what we have already learned = progress in anything humans put their mind to.
The population increases so does the speed of change.

I think you need to put this down to experience and knowledge. The body learns to adapt and evolve over generations and the mind becomes a stronger tool with every experience you go through (or should do for most!)

The intelligence is a gift. The human race has this gift for nature: in fatc, we are not as animals. We don't have the insticts that have that animals but, with reason, we can build jet space, for example.

genetics, experiences, learning from past behaviors, curiosity, trial and error.... The ability to learn and forge ahead w/ new achievements is what makes man a "higher being." Animals will adapt over time or die off and some creatures seem to have a bit of the human learning curve but by and large man is the only creature who quickly "evolves."
