i have a speed of 100mbps if i connect from the isp directly to the computer with a cable..but with wifi i can only get 54mbps even wtih excellect connection range..
can anyone tell me some way to increase the speed?

Well since no one else has, I will point out the obvious!

That speed 100 or 54mbs is the INTERNAL network speed for your LAN only, its not your internet speed!!!!! So either one only affect your computer to internal computer speeds.

You don't have a 100mbs internet connection!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At best you might have 20 (rare) generally less than 10mbs.
SO either of these speeds will exceed your ISP's internet connection speed! Ask yourself.. what speed are you paying the ISP to deliver bet its no where near 54 let alone 100!

im just wondering why isnt 54 mbps good?
its still fast what more can you ask for
but im pretty sure you can find some type of wireless router that will let you do more than 54 mbps

There is a new wifi standard called 802.11n. It's speed is 270 Mbps, more than you want, but currently is unofficial, there are 'draft n' version you can buy at cheap price. many manufactrures have build this.

Wireless-G has a maximum of 54Mbs. This cannot be changed.
