I notice it too. But an absent parent puts a child in charge. The child must make decisions and take action. This plays to the heart of the children in the audience. In a small way, it might help them grow by trying out imaginary situations from the safety of the sofa.

yeah so youve noticed too. bambi's mom died, simba's dad died, dumbo's mom was locked up, cinderella worked like a slave. and they say disney movies are suppose to be nice and cheerful
