I personally think ''say hey'' Willie Mays

Babe Ruth unquestionably. Before he became a full time player, he had a record of 94-46 record as a pitcher with a career earned run average of 2.26 as a star pitcher for the Red Sox and star in the World Series once holding the record for consecutive shutout innings. As an outfielder, he rarely threw to the wrong base, and had a cannon arm. He had 2873 hits, a .342 lifetime average with a high of .393, 714 homeruns with a high of 60 in 1927. He had probably the greatest single season in baseball history with 119 extra base hits in 1921 59 homers ,44 doubles, 16 triples. Willie Mays too was a great all around baseball player that could do it all but he couldn't hit like the Babe and certainly could not pitch like him either. Don't get me wrong here as Mays is one of my alltime favorites and his play in the outfield is unequaled and he could run too but he finishes 2nd to the Babe as the best all around baseball player in history.

Close call here. Between Willie Mays and Roberto Clementa, I'm going with Clementa, he had a stronger arm he was a faster runner and he could hit for power and average. Clementa didn't get the long career though, so his career stats are low, but project them out and he would have been known as the best all-time by many a baseball fan.

Willie Mays is definitely one of the best all around players. I also like Cal Ripken (the O's drafted him as a pitcher at first), Babe Ruth (not only could he hit, but he was a heck of a pitcher), and, as much I hate saying it, Barry Bonds. Before steroids, he could steal, field, throw, and hit. Even last year, he was able to steal a few bases and make a couple of great catches.

Without a doubt it would have to be Willie Mays....he had it all....he could field...throw ....run and power to boot....lost one year+ to military service or might have finished over 700 homeruns.....great..great player....Ted Williams was next and then myself (The Mick) close behind!!

Right now i think it is Willie Mays, but if A-Rod keeps producing like he is, I think it's no question that A-Rod is.

Mays is the usual answer everybody would be safe with but, even when heaps of people will hate me for this, I think that when his career comes to an end Alex Rodriguez will have numbers better than anybody in the game, past and present.
