Leadership is in deciding what has to be done -- the right course of action.

Once that's known, management is in making sure that what's decided on is actually carried out properly.

management skills are focused on how you put things together, making sure that everything - resources, man power, schedule, production and all those factors are in their right places. managing just makes sure that all work is not put to waste and expected outcomes are at hand.

leadership skills on the other hand is all this plus responsibility and accountability. It is when you put yourself in the front line and you are ready to take all responsibility on your shoulders. a leader would always look after everything under him or her, and holds himself accountable if something went wrong along the way. this responsibility is beyond the capabilities of a manager.
