You should go see one soon. Not for anything serious, just a check-up. They will just do a routine pap smear on you and check around down there. 18 is the normal age to start seeing a gyno annually. They just check to see if everything is working and has grown correctly.

Since your still a virgin there's absolutely nothing to worry about. The pap smear will only take about 5 mins to complete and you'll feel better knowing that everything is the way it should be down there.

Some doctors want to start as soon as 18 others say wait til the age of 21.

A woman can ask her primary care physician to do the well-woman exam (the annual pelvic exam, breast exam, and pap smear) if the primary care physician is comfortable doing that.

Now----because when a woman gets her period it opens the door for other womanly problems. NO major ones just cervical cancer - uterine cancer - fibrods etc. There are more reasons then just sex it is a womans responsibilty to care for her self and have normal screenings be a gyno. Included in that would be self breast exams and the doc can also do that as well.

They say that once you get into the ages of 18- 20, weather you are sexually active or not you are still suppose to get a PAP Smear done (yearly check-up) each year. They test you for everything to make sure everything is okay, it's no big deal!
