The words, "just friends" could become a prelude to the words, "we are lovers." Friendships are usually developed prior to any serious relationship so I think it's a positive to be called, "just friends." You may never know if serious and passionate love may be cultivated. I would like to think so.

Well if you don't want to be "just friends" with a person and they do, than it really is that bad. Movies have simply made it more of a catch-phrase than anything else.
