I have a Geforce3 Ti200 card and I want to upgrade it to higher version. I wonder what will really change if I upgrade it.
Also I have games installed on my PC and they only require 64MB and my card is 128MB but it still crashes sometimes. can upgrading it be benefitial to that problem.

Yes it helps not only to have a higher version number (duh?), but it also has fixes for certain bugs found in older drivers. Graphics drivers have special code as well that is read by games to steer it to work as advertised. Since more and more games become complex, so do the drivers and that is why it is recommended to update as often as it is released. It may even fix some of the crashes you are addressing. Finally, graphics and other drivers are used to get the full functionality of the component it is used for.

Edit: As some have stated above me that it can be harmful, that isn't always true. I'd say only a 5% chance is unlucky to lose performance or else you're good to go. Updating the BIOS is a whole different story if you're curious.

Sometimes these updates cause problems, even serious difficulties. If your current drivers and hardware are happy together and do not bother you, an update may be unwise.

I will look for a driver update only if I have a device that is not operating properly, or because of software incompatibility issues. For example, if you have old software that you know and love, but you just upgraded to Vista, you may need new drivers to get that program to work. Or a hardware manufacturer issues updated drivers, promising better performance or more features. Read the details and proceed carefully.

If you play games, it would be beneficial to upgrade. I haven't updated drivers at all (all from 2003-2004.) So I really don't find a difference in upgrading drivers..
