Only egotistical-typed conceited people would ever say it's "not o.k." to be ugly. In fact, only those types of people would feel comfortable calling others "ugly" in the first place. I say, let those egotistical types date and reproduce with their own kind. Less chance of messing up someone else's perfectly healthy, normal family tree.

I think that women are attracted to men for many reasons, not just looks. I am attracted to the size of a man (I like big stocky guys) and sometimes the ugliest guy can be the sexiest. Men are more focused on the outside but I know there are women out there that will date a ugly man because they connected on that level. I have. I don't care too much about looks.

men aren't ugly, they are rugged. :)

not many rugged women on the t.v. though.

funny thing is, instead of ditching the high-maintenance like we early feminists hoped, men now have their (useless) beauty products too.

when we stop seeing the perennial pairing of older, rugged man with younger gorgeous female on t.v. in films etc., we just might be getting somewhere.

it'll never happen.

unfortunately.

What have you got against men?

Its OK for women to be ugly too, so long as they aren't trying to become models. Take a look at women in politics in the world - man what a bunch of mingers!

Looks are a sign of good genetics. Men are hardwired to go for beautiful women because it means better kids.

Women are hardwired in the same way, but there are other factors that indicate good genetics. Like being successful, having leadership skills, a d1ck like an elephant etc etc. Thus male looks aren't the only factor that is important to women.

Make no mistake though - a women will choose a good looking man over an ugly man any day of the week, if all other factors were equal.

No it is not acceptable for men to be ugly, i don't know of any men anymore to let themselves get to the point where they look like a grizzly bear. The new generation of boys take care in their appearance nowadays. And just look around you and there is my evidence.

I don't think it's ok for anyone to be ugly. After all, we have to hurt our eyes looking at them.

All ugly people should be beaten with a pretty stick!

(Ridiculous question, ridiculous answer)

It's not "OK", but I do agree that people are more likely to give ugly men a chance than ugly women, and that the standards for attractiveness are higher for women than for men. In the past, a woman's value as a person was inextricably intertwined with her looks. We have not entirely escaped this yet. Also, women are expected to make the most of their looks, and if they don't, it's seen as a character flaw. How often have you heard, "She'd be pretty if only she'd..." as if that was the most important thing in a woman's life.

It's unfair, but there it is.

Its not okay - its quite unfair that ugly men think they have a right to try for attractive women, but not the reverse. I would say that the only other factor might be if the man is well-endowed. I realize that's not supposed to be important, but it MIGHT be a factor sometimes depending on what someone is looking for.
