You say 'your plant has grown quite a lot since you had it' so it means that your plant is happy where it is. Take a note of that, meaning is it in a shady or sunny spot right now?
If you need to repot, choose a pot which is only slightly larger than the previous one; too large a difference will result in a severe check to growth.
Quite a few plants have furry-like leaves e.g: African Violet, Chrysanthemum, Lantana-all flowering plants.
Best to take a good pix of your plant on your mobile and ask your friendly nursery what plant it is that you have.

Try doing a Google search on house plants, then start looking for pictures or search according to the rest of your description.

I know a lot of plants, but that one doesn't ring a bell.

Sorry. You do need to find out the name and something about it before putting it outside. Some plants can tolerate a lot of sun, some prefer shade.

If you put it in a larger pot, only go up one pot size. It is hard to say what kind of plant you have without seeing a picture of it. If you have a local nursery in the area, take it to them and they can probably tell you what it is and how to take care of it.
