I like history, and classical music. It seems to me in the day in age that not many people play the violin anymore. It is one of the worlds greatest instruments. It represents love so well. Like love you must not abuse, you must be gentle and care for it. The violin is a fragile thing, if not taken care of it can break after a few years, but if taken great care it can last longer then it was designed to. People who played the violin were so elegent, is it me or do they seemed to of disappeared almost?

the violin is still such an elegant instrument! if i had a talent for stringed instruments, i would play it, but my passion lies in brass. if u are looking for some great violin players check out barrage and another one is the depue brothers or alex depue. they are all so good. and there are many symphonies that are good too, the violin hasnt lost a bit of class in my opinion.

My younger daughter tried the violin but found she preferred the cello. I think what's happened is that violin playing isn't considered to be as "cool" as playing an instrument in a marching band in school or picking up a guitar and learning how to make interesting noises with it. It's too bad because playing violin requires a lot of skill, more so than playing guitar (my cello playing daughter told me that it's easier to play guitar) or banging on drums.

Here is Korea, piano is the number 1 instrument for school kids taking private lessons, violin is number 2, and flute is number 3. Recorder is taught in the classroom.
In the United States, where I come from, kids are more interested in band instruments. I don't know whether they are eager to play in a marching band or whether they regard string instruments as sissy.
Or maybe they think string instruments are difficult--which they are.

Do you support your local symphony? Most schools have an orchestra, do you go to their concerts? A lot of pop bands have a piece or two with an orchestra background. My favorite song is by Muse with a huge orchestral section, and they are British Punk. Almost every motion picture sound track has strings. The violin is everywhere, you just have to look.

It's alive and well where I live. Seems every kid on the block is learning to play it. It does take intense discipline and focus to master. There is a lot going on for kids today: sports, video games, tv and I think taking up something like the violin would take a lot of restraint and daily discipline.

Bond plays the violin, LOL. I dunno, I absolutely love it too. It's the most romantic instrument in the world, imo. Most classical music focuses on piano more or less.

It's not that no one plays it, it's just not part of popular music so you don't see many people come foward about it.
