how many people out there honestly think we can have peace without war or conflict honestly?
i think its funny so many on here are quick to judge those who serve there country.
I think its funny when they state, why cant we all just get along?
i really would like to here a logical answer because, i am getting sick and tired of excuse the language, hippies, tree huggers and people like micheal moore, susan surandon, tim robbins, hillarry clinton, ect.
anyone can say, hey there is a diplomatic solution to this, sometimes there is and sometimes there is not.
i mean come on i know that we should question the government on things but come on, every 3 second there is some leftist group stating how bad the USA is.

last week i went to Seattle, WA and while i was there people were handing out anti OIF/WAR/troop flyers and when i asked questions the guy stated that its not that he believed what was on the flyers he was just doing his job. he worked for a temp agency that hired them out to an organization. i mean come on even the leftist hippies wont protest in person anymore what is going on?
i dont know what made me more angry? the fact that they were handing out the flyers or that he was only doing it because he was getting paid

Some people just don't fully appreciate what it took to build this country. The same country that allows people to openly mock their own government and military. Just remember that: "The tree of freedom is watered by the blood of patriots." Complain all you want about war, don't come crying to our military when the next terrorist attack occurs. The terrorists started it here, we're trying to end it over there. The extremists purposely blow themselves up, I don't think talking to them is going to dissuade them from their fundamentalist ways. If it was that easy, it would have been done a long time ago.

You portray an uneducated view simply in the fact that you are using terms such as hippies and tree huggers to symbolize the majority of Americans who are against the war in iraq. No, I am not a hippie, and honestly, I don't go around calling people who support our efforts in Iraq belligerents; this is simply slander.
Most of us would argue that Iraq had nothing to do with terrorism. Instead, we were deceived into this war due to faulty German intelligence that our administration did not verify or question.
War is sometimes necessary, but when an administration does not practice due dilligence before entering a war, it is just shy of criminal.
You do know this whole war happened because of one single lying Iraqi (curveball), right?

Some people are ignorant about this stuff. Not that you are, but i believe we can have peace without violence if people tried! I mean do we really need to have a war about everything. I think some people just need to understand there are better ways to work things out!

Well if you don't start none, it won't be none. Violence that is. The only violence that does good is for professional fighters who get paid.
There are too many different beliefs and ideas for there to never be a conflict, but violence is not the way to try and make "peace". If so, then whoever is stronger or has the bigger guns and army will win, not the necessarily the ones with the better logic or ideals.

We cannot change human nature, and we cannot legislate or force others to be honest, thrifty, safe or intelligent. They must do it on their own or bear the consequences.
The price of liberty is far more than simple vigilance. The price includes the integrity to accept complete personal responsibility for our lives, safety, property and welfare. The price that so many find hardest to pay, however, is the integrity to leave everyone else alone to do the same.
"A few profit – and the many pay. But there is a way to stop it. You can't end it by disarmament conferences. You can't eliminate it by peace parleys at Geneva. Well-meaning but impractical groups can't wipe it out by resolutions. It can be smashed effectively only by taking the profit out of war
"I spent 33 years and four months in active military service and during that period I spent most of my time as a high class muscle man for Big Business, for Wall Street and the bankers. In short, I was a racketeer, a gangster for capitalism. I helped make Mexico and especially Tampico safe for American oil interests in 1914. I helped make Haiti and Cuba a decent place for the National City Bank boys to collect revenues in. I helped in the raping of half a dozen Central American republics for the benefit of Wall Street. I helped purify Nicaragua for the International Banking House of Brown Brothers in 1902-1912. I brought light to the Dominican Republic for the American sugar interests in 1916. I helped make Honduras right for the American fruit companies in 1903. In China in 1927 I helped see to it that Standard Oil went on its way unmolested. Looking back on it, I might have given Al Capone a few hints. The best he could do was to operate his racket in three districts. I operated on three continents."
Major General Smedley Darlington Butler (1881-07-30–1940-07-21), one of the most colorful officers in the Marine Corps' long history, was one of the two Marines who received two Medals of Honor for separate acts of outstanding heroism.

I just think you can't really see the point that, "You cannot have peace in chaos".
In moral standards leaders have to set the example for others to follow...if our leaders are showing us what's going on in the world today (War, poverty, disease, taxation) then this is all people will know and sadly accept it.
It's not wrong to be against war.
and think of this for one moment.
If the U.S has their own nukes why do they blame other countries for having them.

I agree with you that's it's annoying how many times we hear "why can't we all just get along." I've come to the conclusion that, if liberals and conservatives can be so poisonous towards each other that they can't even make peace, what the hell right do either of them have asking that question?? Especially whenever that question is asked in regards to peoples in distant lands with ancient blood feuds whose cultures most of them do not understand!!!
And the USA bashing gets old, too, although I do it myself sometimes. I think it stems from a frustration that you feel no one's listening to what you're trying to say.
I think the ultimate problem is this: whever you say, "Well war is always going to be here and so what do you really expect us to do?" you're setting yourself up for failure, like a self-fulfilling prophecy. Yes, violent conflict will always be here. But when people emphasize this point so much, it gradually becomes an excuse for not working very hard to prevent it. Some people will hide behind it to avoid really doing what's necessary to alleviate the problem. Of course, this defeatist attitude can be seen in so many other issues, for example, problems that liberals claim are "hopeless cases," like for instance teen sex. "They're going to do anyway," they say.
As for soldiers, in my personal experience, they are considerably more good-natured, mature, intelligent, respectful, and respectable than the "average American."
But this war on terror is a sham. We're not fighting a specific national government or hollow ideology, as in previous wars (how many Nazi or Commie suicide bombers have you ever heard of?). We're fighting multiple groups who, as soon as one guy gets picked off, 5 more pop out of the woodwork to replace him. We're fighting fiery fundamentalist zeal and martyrology. Denouncing them as "evil" and "haters of peace and freedom," and then proceeding to bomb the sh** out of entire countries, is about as effective as throwing gasoline onto a fire.

Some wars are simply a way of making money for some people. Its a business at the cost of human lives. Every Government has its dark side and the U.S is no exception. Motives, interests, is only a small part of a war.

So yes, at times diplomacy can work. It should always be on the table, and preferrably the first option.
