I am a believer in trends. Every successful team has a foundation their success is built on. One particular stat will be consistent through out your wins or even your losses. The first game to be locked in is the NY Giants facing off against the Tampa Bay Bucs. The consistent key to the Giants wins and losses has been the amount of reliance they have put on Eli Manning. While he does get some leniency at times that can be credited to his last name. He also receives a lot of undue expectations as a result of that last name as well. He is still a very young Quarterback. In the Giants win they have averaged 46% of their yards from the rush. In their losses they have only managed to get 30% of their yardage rushing. Eli Manning is not his brother, he is not Brett Favre he is not someone you can ride to success. At least not yet. As important as this emphasis on the run has been to the Giants, it will be spot lighted, even more than usual when facing the Bucs. The Bucs consistent factor in their wins is applying pressure on the quarterback. If you eliminate the games where Jeff Garcia was not playing QB they won every interception battle. Additionally if you take into account the games played by Gradkowski and McCown; in all of their wins they have won either the interception battle or the Sack battle, if not both. The knee jerk reaction is to look to the protection of Eli Manning in order for the Giants to secure a victory. I say worry less about protecting him for his throws and worry more about protecting him from his throws.

Are you trying to kill me of laughter. There is no way the giants will beat the Tampa. Eli for some reason still is not that good yet. He can get a team to the playoffs, but can't win a playoff game. When he gets into tight games he seems to chock at the end and tries to get the balls into places he never threw before in the game. Second the team has great day and then has crappy days. You never know what the team is going to be like week to week. With the defense that Tampa has I do not see them beating them.
Tampa 42 giants 21
To keep to your question the only way for the giants to beat Tampa is to run the ball at them. Tampa is good at the run so if you can establish one against them you will win the game. Also get some good passes and have Eli know you do not need 40 yard passes every time. Tampa is good at reading stuff like that.

I am sorry but all of those people who think Eli is the problem he isn't..... the giants have the most dropped passes in the NFL... perfect example is last night.... little screen thrown to Brendan Jacobs, he had to linemen and a Te Kevin boss blocking in front of him, and beside who they were blocking, no1 within 20yards, that is at least a 30 yard gain and Jacobs drops it. Now i am not saying Eli is great......he is good under the right circumstances...... he plays best in the 2 minutes drill (no huddle offense) and the giants just need to go off of a no huddle offense and also give Jacobs 20+ carries also they need to bring the heat on defense.... cause bad throws and hit the quarterback.... do that and they will win by at least 10

The Giants can beat the Buccaneers by scoring more points before time runs out.

I do not think the Giants will beat Tampa Bay. Eli has not been playing well under pressure all season.

Don't get behind! The bucs have the best pass defense in the league, and Garcia isn't going to throw any picks to make it easy on the Giants. The Giants need to take the lead early and rely on Jacobs with the right amount of play action or deep balls to Plaxico to keep the defense honest. They can't get behind and need to pass to get back, that won't work on the Bucs.

Buccaneers have the 2nd best defense in the NFL I believe. (Not sure, correct me if I'm wrong) Jeff Garcia is a veteran and has plenty of experience, he'll lead the Bucs over Giants.

Ball control offense and really tough D, TB is pretty weak offensively, so the Giant D should do well. If the Giants can play smart, ball control offensive, TB's D will wear out later in the 2nd half and the Giants will win.

Eli isn't good under pressure...the bucs defensive line is pretty threating.
It will be a low scoring game from what both teams can deliver but the BUCS will take it...
aha YES i am a buc fan and have been for a VERY long time lol.

I know, Blitz the hell out of Jeff Garcia and Double cover Joey Galloway, and get a 2 man punch running game going.
